When encountering arguments on the internet apply this method can be extremely helpful in evaluation their credibility and forming your own responses.
Claim: identify main point or assertion or being made in the argument
Data/Evidence: Look for the evidence or reasons provided to support the claim. Evaluate the quality and relevance of he evidence presented.
Warrant: Assess the reasoning that connect the evidence to the claim. Evaluate whether the evidence logically supports the claim. If the reasoning is weak or there is a gap in logic it weakens the argument
Backing: Additional support
Rebuttal/Qualifier: Consider potential counterarguments or exceptions to the claim. Acknowledging these strengthens your response and demonstrates a deeper understanding of the topic.
